As Sabrina’s hand reached out from having her hair thrown high with volume, to hand her dad a letter, the room fell silent. Her bridesmaids seemed to line the wall behind him, each of them cascading one by one into tears. Her dad too began to weep. I remember the apple, lodged in my throat, as I photographed to capture this special moment.
A wedding day can be as big for a parent as it is for the bride and groom – that’s for sure. Sabrina, to her dad, wasn’t just the 20-something-year-old woman we all saw. To him, she is also the 1 year old starting to walk; the girl who posed for her photograph in her uniform on her first day at school.
These are big moments.
Their day had truly begun and, as the sounds outside became busier with family and friends gathering, so did the nerves, gently crescendoing inside the bride and bridesmaid’s room.
The Tuscan hills took to their positions and were perfect. It’s now time to walk down your aisle.
